GiveLitter™ Launches Initiative to Donate Litter to Animal Shelters Across the Country

Rescue cats across the country are set to benefit from an online campaign that will result in 15,138 pounds of much-needed cat litter being donated to three animal shelters.

Muscatine, IA – September 21, 2011 — Friday, September 16, 2011 marked the final day of GiveLItter™ – a charitable campaign that saw cat lovers casting 59,550 online votes over forty-five days to donate thousands of pounds of cat litter between three animal shelters: A.D.O.P.T Pet Shelter in Illinois, Homeward Pet in Washington, and Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons in New York. All of the participating shelters are part of the No More Homeless Pets® Network – a program of the Best Friends Animal Society®.

While the benefiting shelters are scattered across the United States, the campaign was powered by the unifying respect all people have for those caring for cats in need. World’s Best Cat Litter®️ pledged to donate one pound of cat litter for every new Facebook fan and one-tenth of a pound of litter for every vote toward one of the participating shelters. Cat lovers coast-to-coast were able to vote once a day online at facebook.com/worldsbestcatlitter or givelitter.com. The program is structured in a manner that guarantees that all participating shelters receive free litter, based proportionally on the number of fans and votes received.

This round of GiveLitter™ saw «feline-thropists» pouncing on the opportunity to help and the campaign resulted in each shelter receiving more than 5,000 pounds of free litter.

«Cat lovers appreciate the opportunity to support shelters whose dedication is endless, but whose resources aren’t,» said Paul Zobel, Senior Director of Marketing, Kent Nutrition Group. «World’s Best Cat Litter®️ is committed to making people and their pets’ lives easier and this campaign is another way we can help the community give back.»

The most recent coast-to-coast GiveLitter™ initiative follows on the heels of three previous GiveLitter™ efforts that resulted in more than 40,000 thousand of pounds of all-natural World’s Best Cat Litter®️ being donated to shelters in Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Texas. To date GiveLitter™ has donated a total of 56,403 pounds of litter to shelters.
