World’s Best Cat Litter® Charity to Donate 18,606 Pounds of Free Litter to Three Los Angeles Based Animal Shelters

GiveLitter™ Fall Campaign Completed And Free Litter Scheduled For Delivery

Muscatine, Iowa – November 8, 2010 – On November 18, the World’s Best Cat Litter® Charity will deliver more than 18,606 pounds of free all natural, whole-kernel corn cat litter to three Los Angeles animal shelters as part of its GiveLitter™ autumn 2010 donation drive, which launched in September.

World’s Best Cat Litter® pledged to donate one pound of cat litter for every new Facebook fan and one-tenth of a pound of litter for every vote towards one of the three animal shelters: Alley Cat Allies with Baldwin Park Animal Shelter, Cat House on the Kings, and Kitten Rescue. For the last two months, cat enthusiasts have been able to vote once a day online at www.facebook.com/worldsbestcatlitter and www.givelitter.com. The contest wrapped up today.

“We are so thrilled to not only be donating free litter but also to have helped raise awareness of the critical needs of animal shelters,” said Paul Zobel, Senior Director of Marketing, Kent Nutrition Group. “Shelters go through supplies quickly; we thought this charitable campaign was a great way to support the local communities of Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. GiveLitter™ will be reaching out to other cites in 2011.”

The GiveLitter™ initiative is designed to donate free litter to all three chosen charities, based proportionally on the number of fans and votes received. This recent effort was the second GiveLitter™ campaign; in August, World’s Best Cat Litter® donated 5,255 pounds of litter to three animal shelters based in the District of Columbia.

In addition to having a large network of foster homes, Kitten Rescue owns its own private shelter facility, the Kitten Rescue Sanctuary, which houses approximately 150 adult cats in a cage-free environment.
